Additional information about surrounding area and attractions:
The mountains and the scenery in the NE section of Yellowstone are arguably the most beautiful in Yellowstone area. Wildlife is everywhere. Fishing is within walking distance. Horse Back riding is available nearby. Hiking varies from walks that start at the house or any of the many locations in the Park. A beautiful one mile hike to trout lake starts at a few miles from the house. This wonderful family hike starts only 15 minutes away
The Beartooth Mountains, which lie just east, encourage hiking into alpine lakes and sub alpine ecosystems. A truly unique opportunity to get away from the crowds.
If you want more traditional adventures, Cody, WY is a day trip to see the Wild Bill Cody western museum. (Perhaps the best in the West.) There are great stores and the town is a mix of local cowboys and tourists who come to see the sights, like the nightly gun fight at the historic Irma Hotel. (Irma was Wild Bill Cody's daughter.) As if that isn't enough there is a nightly rodeo. This is a real rodeo with fabulous clowns and top placed contestants vying for serious money and fame. The rodeo features all the major events, and usually has an intermission where the kids are asked to come and participate in a rodeo game.. This is old fashioned, small town, western hospitality at its best.
