Specific information about property
This unique house features multi level decks, skylights, a bunk room, a sleeping loft, and three bedrooms. There is a spacious living room and a unique catwalk spanning its length. The kitchen/dining area is spacious. Washer/dryer. Bed linens and towels are provided. Satellite TV and internet are provided. And if you want to get downstairs in a hurry, you can use the fireman's pole (at your own risk of course). There is a stone fireplace in the living room. We've recently installed a brand new furnace for those colder nights, or if you want to visit during the winter. We put ceramic tile floors on the main floor and the common area upstairs (our knees are still aching!). There are plenty of windows for enjoying spectacular views of the pine forest and the surrounding cove. Each upstairs bedroom has its own private balcony. There is a rustic feel provided by the angled tongue-in-groove pine boards used on the walls. We provide a microwave oven, and silverware, glassware, and china.

Description of surrounding area and attractions
The house is right next to the water when high tide fills Back Cove. Back Cove is directly across Mackerel Cove from the Ferry Terminal. The house is accessed via a cul-de-sac drive off of Island Retreat Road, halfway back to the clubhouse and dock. If you arrive by boat, you can use the Island Retreat mooring and dock.
The pine forest is enchanting. You can see deep into it. It features granite outcroppings and it is easy to explore since the pines keep undergrowth down and provide a soft pine needle carpet. You can hike along the coastline since it is covered mostly by shelves of granite. Watch out for high tide and gaps between the enormous rocks. Visit fine sand beach to take a bracing dip in the Atlantic, or just lay back and get a tan.
The freshest, tastiest seafood is available on the island at Kent's Wharf, and from lobstermen native to the island. There is a small grocery store. But you should plan to bring many of your own supplies in terms of food and beverages.

Amenities
Access Swan's Island via the always reliable Maine State Ferry Service, which makes five or six round trips to the island per day, departing from the Bass Harbor terminal on Mt. Dessert Island.
