Description of surrounding area and attractions
Minutes away from the beautiful Lac de Jouarres where swimming is extra safe thanks to on-duty lifeguards during the summer. The Minervois is a region of numerous historical sites as attested by the village dolmens, Gallo-Roman ruins and the great Cathars cities, particularly nearby Minerve and Carcassonne. We are close to the Canal du Midi where boats can be rented for the day or longer, or boarded for an excursion. You can also rent a small electric boat in the next village and explore at your leisure. Biking,hiking , kayaking, windsurfing,cave exploration, tennis, horse riding are some of the ways to entertain yourself in an enchanting landscape. Carcassonne airport and beaches are 45 min away, and it's a 3-hr drive to Barcelona.
Wineries abound in the region as do excellent restaurants. In season, there are many fiestas, concerts and plays all around, and open markets everyday of the week. There you can shop for music, clothes, special treasures, and delicious local products. Co
