Description of surrounding area and attractions
Orcas Island is the largest (57 square miles) and most mountainous island of all the San Juan Islands. Though it is the largest island the community has a comforting “small town feel.” The island is shaped like a horseshoe, with a five-mile long fjord in the middle.
Only a fifteen-minute drive from Cedar Field is Moran State Park, a 5,252-acre state park with four lakes and the 2,409-foot Mt. Constitution, the highest point in the San Juans. Mt. Constitution is one of the most scenic 360-degree water views in the world, with visibility up to a hundred miles on clear days. There are over 30 miles of hiking and bicycling trails available. Cascade, Mountain, and Twin Lakes offer a plethora of boating, fishing, and swimming opportunities for everyone.
Wildlife viewing is available in numerous forms. Whale watching tours are only a short drive away at Deer Harbor. Turtleback Mountain offers nearby hiking trails with spectacular views. Cedar Field is perfectly located.
