Continuing the tradition of Victorian Architecture, The Applegate House opened on Memorial Day 2000 and is a worthy addition to Newport's Historic Nye Beach. The Applegate vacation home builds upon many of the features that the Wakefield House originated; and then we stood back and made a few changes here and a few additions there.
The large two story bay window is the visual anchor of the west facade. With crown mouldings both inside and out and ornate shingle exterior, the entire west face makes for an impressive streetscape.
Upon entering the home the guest is greeted first by the slate floors that run the length of the hallway and nine foot ceilings that are found throughout the first floor.
The owners have continued as, in their previous homes, to place two bedrooms on the first floor.

Description of surrounding area and attractions
Applegate House is located directly across the street from Newport's Performing Arts Center and one block from the Vietnam Memorial Park which has quickly become the most comfortable beach entry in Nye Beach. Applegate House is located right next door to the Wakefield and at the opposite end of the block from Fairhaven House.
