The second highest elevation in Florida is located in this area where Indian Hill was created a couple thousand years ago by the Calusa Indians with their discarded shells from clams, oysters, etc. They left a legend that our Historical Society is now assembling in a museum. The white sandy beach is located minutes down Winterberry Dr., or to Tigertail Beach where equipment for floating or boating is available. You can enjoy wonderful walking on the beach, observing turtle nests, birds nesting or incredible shells. Within miles are the famous Everglades trails for observing more nature, or for the affluent area of Naples, Florida where shopping is an experience for anyone. The Florida Keys are 1 1/2 hours away for a day trip and scuba diving, and Disney World is 5 hours for the kids at heart. Boating can bring you to incredible areas to explore; Kice Island where homes are disappearing into the Gulf or Gooddland on a Sunday afternoon to experience the Buzzard Lope Dance.
