Specific information about property
Only 80 feet from the sea, we are on the sunny west side of Kauai. Our community of Kekaha used to be housing for the sugar plantations, one of which is still in operation. Now it has evolved into a bedroom community for local families working in the County center of Lihue or the tourist destination of Poipu.
Built in 1995, our five-room Beach House is cozy for two or can sleep up to six. There are 700 square feet under the roof plus another 350 square feet of private decks overlooking the sea and the landscaped yard.
Your private kitchen is complete, with range, microwave, refrigerator, icemaker, blender, pots, pans, dishes, flatware and glassware. We do not invade your privacy. We stock the kitchen with breakfast groceries and you simply help yourself.
Open beam ceilings with ceiling fans, wood floors, lots of glass, indirect lighting, and art hangings complement the decor of your Beach House.

Description of surrounding area and attractions
We are about three miles from the mouth of the Waimea River where Captain Cook first landed in Hawaii in 1778. Here there are also ruins of an old Russian Fort. And we are at the foot of Waimea Canyon, which Mark Twain called the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific." Up the 4000 foot high volcano behind us is Kokee, one of the last remaining endemic Hawaiian Rain Forests, complete with a Natural History Museum and forty miles of hiking trails (Google "Kokee"). Fifteen minutes down the road, hidden by sugar cane fields, is Poli Hale State Beach Park, almost unknown by the tourists and ghostly in its emptiness, yet provided with potable fresh water showers, toilets, and concrete beach pavilions with shade and built in barbeque pits. About ten miles east is Salt Pond Beach, again with all facilities plus palm trees, grass, and a small lagoon perfect for children to swim. It's a thirty minute car ride to the tourist area of Poipu, where you will find one of the best snorkeling beaches on Kauai.
