Additional information about surrounding area and attractions:
Blackberry Cottage is in a wonderful position on a hillside, about 450 ft above sea level, with a wonderful view over the Gulf of La Spezia. The cottage is reached along a 700 metre private road and track from the main road linking La Spezia to the Cinque Terre.
The property covers about 2,000 square meters and is enclosed within high stone walls. It is set in a landscape of olives trees and Mediterranean scrub, and it is the last cottage of a small hamlet, thus enjoying seclusion without being isolated.
A car is a must for someone renting the cottage. Although the sea, the shops and the tourist attractions are not too far away, the local bus service is neither frequent nor convenient.
Pisa, Lucca, Florence, Portofino and Genoa are all destinations easily reachable on a day trip by car, or by car and train. To go to the Cinque Terre we suggest using the train, parking the car near the station at La Spezia, about 6 km from the Blackberry Cottage. If you like hiking, then you can join the walking paths directly from the house and visit the Cinque Terre National Park on foot (if you are fit!), or take the car to Riomaggiore or Manarola and start exploring from there.
Please note that Pisa international airport, a Ryanair destination, is within an hour from the house. Have a look at the interactive map to understand better where you could spend a wonderful holiday.
As a base for hiking, sightseeing or just to relax it can hardly be bettered !
