Two thirds of the island of St. John is National Park. The Park maintains a number of hiking trails as well as cultural and archaeological sites.
In Cruz Bay, the main town, there are free public tennis courts, boat rentals, scuba diving trips, sailing trips, snorkeling, small craft or kayak rentals and charter boats to the nearby British Virgin Islands. St. Thomas and its shopping centers are only a ferry trip away. Car rentals are available and advisable.
